History of Chevrolet Trucks

Chevrolet Trucks was founded in November 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant. They founded the company along with Dr. Edwin R. Campbell and William Little, who were their investment partners. The company was originally known as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. Chevrolet was merged into General Motors in 1916 as a separate division. The company is still a division of General Motors today.

Starting in 1919, GMC commercial trucks used the same chassis as Chevrolet passenger cars and light-duty trucks. The commercial trucks were rebranded as Chevrolet, and the appearance of Chevrolet branded trucks and GMC branded trucks were very similar. The standard Chevrolet small-block V8 engine has been produced continuously since it was first used in 1955, which is longer than any other engine that has ever been mass-produced.

Types of Chevrolet Trucks

The Express, Savana, and Kodiak are some of the most popular models of Chevrolet trucks and vans on the road. These models are available in cargo vans, passenger vans and box trucks. The Chevrolet Silverado is another popular model. The Silverado is available in light-duty and heavy-duty models. The heavy-duty models make great work trucks and are often fitted with a service body or a flatbed to be used for hauling materials.

Chevrolet trucks are very versatile, and the amenities they are equipped with vary greatly.

Amenities on a Chevrolet truck can include:

  • Bedliner
  • Custom winch
  • Service body
  • Lift gate
  • Chrome bumper
  • Backup camera
  • Ladder rack
  • XM satellite radio
  • Tool box
  • Extendable boom
  • Horizontal exhaust
